Eagles beat Lyrebirds
1 min read

A single goal is all that separated Ellinbank and Buln Buln at the final whistle of their A grade clash on Saturday.
Wet conditions saw lower scores on average across the round.
Results went as most would have predicted, with Neerim South, Nilma Darnum and Trafalgar the other winners.
Whilst Ellinbank held a narrow lead at the first two breaks in play, Buln Buln made their move in the third quarter to level at three-quarter time.
The Eagles then scored seven consecutive goals and looked to have the win settled, before the Lyrebirds fired back with five consecutive goals of their own.
Ellinbank held the lead but a late Buln Buln break pulled the margin back to one. The Lyrebirds had ball in hand when the final whistle blew with the score 39-38.
It was very low scoring when Neerim South battled big improvers Yarragon for a 33-20 win.
The Panthers led 8-7 at quarter time, before the Cats gained a 16-12 half-time lead.
The Cats pushed the margin out to 10 goals at the last break, 26-16, and extended this further in the last.
Fellow promising young side Poowong gave Trafalgar an early scare, before the Bloods settled for a 46-31 win.
It was the Magpies who lead at the first change, 10-7, and were level at half-time, 18-18.
However, the Bloods stepped it up in the third, with Cass Wass shooting 11 goals herself to establish a 33-23 lead.
This proved too much for Poowong to overcome in the last.
Nilma Darnum was the only team who shot more than 50 goals, pushing aside the young Longwarry side, 71-36.
Hayley Purcell shot 54 of these goals herself.
Nilma Darnum led by six goals at quarter time and just built the margin as the game progressed.
Next week's games: Yarragon v Ellinbank, Trafalgar v Neerim South, Longwarry v Lang Lang and Catani v Nilma Darnum. Poowong and Buln Buln have byes.
