Transport alert: Major delays on Monash Freeway

Motorists are being warned of major delays on the Monash Freeway over the next two weekends.
Multiple outbound lanes will be closed between Warrigal Rd and EastLink from 7pm Friday to 5am Monday, followed by 7pm Friday, June 24 to 5am Monday, June 27.
Additionally, outbound ramp closures will be in place at the Huntingdale Rd entry, Blackburn Rd entry and Wellington Rd entry.
The closures come as crews complete final asphalting works in preparation for the opening of all upgraded freeway lanes.
The Department of Transport stated motorists should avoid using the freeway through this stretch where possible, as significant delays are expected during peak times.
Alternative routes include Dandenong Rd and the Princes Hwy, High St and High Street Rd, Waverley Rd, North and Wellington roads, and Toorak Rd and the Burwood Hwy, with Stud Rd providing return access to the freeway.
Melbourne Water will conduct important sewer works in the outbound lanes of the Monash Freeway from 8pm Friday, June 24 until 5am Monday, June 27. During works, three outbound lanes will be closed at Burke Rd, leaving two lanes open.
The Monash Freeway, linking Melbourne's CBD to the south-eastern suburbs and Gippsland, is used by around 470,000 motorists each day.
Real-time traffic conditions are available at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or via the VicTraffic mobile app.
