Two aggravated burglaries were reported in Warragul overnight last Tuesday.
Police said it was not yet known if the incidents in Burvill Crt and Ramsay Crt, which both resulted in the theft of vehicles, were linked.
A black 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan station wagon was stolen from a Burvill Crt residential address.
Police reported the aggravated burglary occurred whilst the occupants slept between 2am and 5am on Wednesday.
It is alleged a garage door was forced open to gain access.
They located car keys and stole the vehicle, with registration plates "BPD 804", valued at $40,000.
The vehicle was involved in a petrol drive off in Moe at 5.55am. It has not yet been recovered.
In the second aggravated burglary, a maroon 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero station wagon was stolen from a residential property in Ramsay Crt.
The occupants slept through the incident, only discovering the vehicle was missing after being woken by police at 2.50am.
It followed the vehicle evading a police stop in the Latrobe Valley.
Police allege the offenders entered the back yard of the property and were able to access the garage via an unlocked door.
The Mitsubishi Pajero was stolen and a second vehicle was rummaged through. It was recovered in Traralgon at 7.30am on Thursday.
