People in the Neerim district can hone their skills on what they need to limit their risk from fires next summer.
The Neerim South CFA brigade is hosting an open day for district residents at the fire station between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, October 26.
It is an open welcome to meet members of the brigade, check equipment the firefighters use and receive advice about preparing homes and properties to minimise risks.
The Neerim district has seen its population increase significantly and changes to services and infrastructure since the brigade was formed in 1946 but the one constant has been the devastation that can result from fires.
A free sausage sizzle and "cuppas" at the open day and a chance to learn a bit more about how the brigades operates on a day-to-day basis.
