Police have reminded local residents that fire restrictions remain in force following a grass fire at Trafalgar East last Sunday night.
They are currently investigating whether the fire at a rural property on Moir Rd on March 9 is suspicious.
Police said Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded and extinguished the fire at about 8.50pm.
An area of about 100 square metres was burnt.
However, no structure or neighbouring property was damaged.
Despite summer being over, police have reminded residents that fire restrictions remain in force, which is particularly important due to dry conditions across the West Gippsland region.
Restrictions prohibit residents from lighting fire in the open air unless they have a permit or comply with certain requirements. If you don't obtain a permit, you could be breaking the law and may be prosecuted.
