Entries for the February 2024 Neerim Bower Sculpture Acquisition are now open.
Organised by the Neerim District Progress Association, the theme for the 2024 exhibition is "Free as a Bird."
A series of large sculptures will be presented in the main street of Neerim South between February 10 and 25, complemented by an exhibition of small sculptures at the Algie Hall.
In addition to the sculptures, a mural by Gippsland artist Melanie Caple will come to life on the south wall of the IGA supermarket during the exhibition.
Latrobe Regional Gallery senior curator David Ashley Kerr and Laurie Collins, a local sculptor and owner of the Red Tree Gallery in Jindivick are judging the event. The project is jointly funded by the Neerim District Community Bank and the IGA supermarket.
During the exhibition period, Trish Tomlin and the Neerim District Pony Club will organise a movie night under the stars.
Prizes for the 2024 Sculpture Acquisition include a $12,500 acquisition prize, sponsored by the Neerim District Community Bank, a $3000 non-acquisitive prize for small sculptures and a People's Choice Award of $1000.
