Festival fun in Boolarra

The multi-award winning Boolarra Folk Festival will once again host a fantastic free community event on the first weekend of March.

Held across the Railway and Centennial Parks in Boolarra, the festival will showcase an incredible music line-up, 30 food vendors offering a diverse range of delicious cuisines, and a bustling arts and craft market with more than 100 stalls.
The festival will kick off at the Boolarra Memorial Hall from 7pm on Friday, February 28 with four musical performances.
"Nearly Friday" will headline the night at 9:20pm, presenting a sonic landscape experience that is both nostalgic and forward-looking, blending the best of classic synth pop rock with new age influences.
The Friday night event will have a $10 cover charge. All funds raised will be put towards the restoration of the Old Boolarra Post Office, a future venue for more performances.
Saturday March 1 is the main event with the musical program commencing in Centennial park at 10:30am. The Saturday event remains free of charge.
A variety of market stalls will be set up in the adjacent Railway Park.
Known for showcasing a variety of musical genres, the festival will have a performance to suit everyone's taste.
Local seven-piece band "The Soultanas" will headline the festival and are set to entertain the crowd with party favourites from the past 50 years of soul and pop songs.
Gippsland-based indie pop-folk-rock duo "Ally Row" will bring a more lyrical performance to the festival with their velvet harmonies and memorable originals.
The "Riflebirds" will present an electrifying live rock act honed from 12 years of playing festivals and pub gigs across the country.
"Phil Coyne and The Wayward Aces" will present a powerful sound with the raw intensity of Chicago blues together with rockabilly swing and garage surf drive.
Part of the Australian folk scene for 45 years, the "Briagolong Band" will perform their own original songs, and blistering trad fiddle sets.
Free camping at the Boolarra Recreation Reserve will also be available during the festival, including free showers and toilets.
