Services to commemorate the involvement of Australian Defence Force people in the Vietnam War, especially the 523 that died in the conflict, will be held at Warragul and Longwarry North on Sunday, August 18.
The date marks the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966, one of the fiercest battles fought by Australian troops during the war.
Warragul RSL will conduct a service, including wreath laying, at the town's cenotaph at the junction of Smith and Victoria Sts starting at 11am.
The service is expected run for about 30 minutes, after which attendees are invited to the RSL clubrooms in Albert St for finger food and refreshments.
At the Longwarry North clubrooms of the Gippsland Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, a service will get underway at 2pm.
Families are encouraged to attend and people are also invited to lay wreaths.
Some 60,000 Australian soldiers, sailors and air force personnel served in Vietnam between 1962 and 1975, with about 3000 wounded in addition to those that lost their lives.
About half of those that returned have since died.
