A firefighter and mayor were special guest readers at National Simultaneous Storytime celebrations held at local libraries on Wednesday.
Firefighter Darren McDonald from Darnum Ellinbank Fire Brigade attended Drouin Library, whilst Baw Baw Shire mayor Annemarie McCabe was welcomed to Warragul Library as part of Myli celebrations.
This year's book, "The Speedy Sloth" written by Rebecca Young and illustrated by Heath McKenzie, was read at 11am at libraries, schools and other events across Australia.
Now in its 23rd year, National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually to promote the value of reading and literacy whilst showcasing an Australian children's book.
At Drouin, Darren read "The Speedy Sloth", shared stories of being a firefighter and answered questions from his new Storytime friends.
Cr McCabe read "The Speedy Sloth" to a visiting group of kindergarten children from Grace Berglund.
The children also enjoyed singing songs, popping bubbles and making finger puppets craft with a Myli programs officer.
