Operation Safe Plate was held in Warragul recently with more than 60 vehicles fitted with one-way safety screws.
With increasing incidents of registration plate thefts across the area, Neighbourhood Watch and Warragul SES volunteers joined forces to offer the service at Mason St carpark in Warragul.
Members were kept busy installing the one-way safety screws on 67 vehicles for a $5 donation.
The community event has resulted in the screws being installed on thousands of vehicles across its 20-year history.
It is normally held twice a year.
The top tips to prevent number plate theft are: secure your plates with anti-theft screws or pop rivets; and, park in a secure or well-lit area.
Operation Safe Plate raised $440 which will be shared evenly between Neighbourhood Watch and SES.
