A sunny morning attracted about 70 people to a recent pop-up playgroup session in Drouin's Ferntree Park.
The second pop-up playgroup of Baw Baw Shire's new initiative, the morning featured music, crafts, physical play and storytime activities.
Running for 90 minutes, children participated in activities and explored the park whilst parents joined in and socialised.
The Drouin pop-up session followed the launch in Warragul a fortnight earlier which attracted about 50 people. A session in Trafalgar followed.
"The program has seen a fantastic uptake from our community," Baw Baw Shire mayor Annemarie McCabe said. "Attendees have expressed feedback that they have enjoyed all activities that have been offer."
Hayley Marsh of Longwarry said the playgroup concept was "brilliant".
Having moved from Darwin where similar programs were run, Hayley said her girls were having fun and it was a great way to meet other families.
"I'd never met half of these people," Hayley said, adding she would definitely look at attending future pop-up sessions.
Maddie Waites of Warragul agreed it had been a fun morning.
"It's nice to get out and about," Maddie said.
Other parents said it was nice to attend a park on a sunny morning and the kids had fun playing with different toys.
The new pop-up playgroup program will run over 12 months and is offered free to families. It is suitable for children aged up to five-years-old.
Upcoming events will be held at Burke St Park in Warragul on Thursday, September 21 from 10am; Neerim South Playground on Tuesday, October 3 from 10am; and, McNeilly Park in Drouin from Wednesday, October 18 from 10am.
