A teenage boy was robbed and assaulted in Trafalgar last Tuesday afternoon.
Police believe the 14-year-old may have been the victim of mistaken identity.
The boy told police he attended the public toilets in Contingent St at about 4.20pm.
It is believed about 20 males, all about 16-years-old, entered and locked the door. They allegedly stole his black bag before punching and kicking him. Police said he suffered minor abrasions to his forehead and left ribs in the unlawful assault.
A Lenovo laptop, which had been inside the bag, was later located in Contingent St.
Anyone with information which may assist police investigations is urged to contact Trafalgar police station on 5633 1188.
