ATM theft in Longwarry

An ATM heist in Longwarry left a trail of destruction on Friday morning.
Police allege the three offenders were organised and prepared, believing the incident was linked to other ATM thefts in rural towns outside Baw Baw Shire.
The theft occurred outside the IGA supermarket in Kennedy St at about 2am.
Police said the group attended in a stolen tow truck, smashing it into the building before wrapping a chain around the ATM.
Using the crane attached to the truck, the ATM was ripped from the building and dragged south along Koo wee rup-Longwarry Rd.
They allege a cash box was stolen and the truck, stolen in preparation of the crime, was later found dumped at Cora Lynn.
Anyone with information which may assist police investigations is asked to contact Baw Baw CIU on 5622 7111.
