Tools were stolen during an aggravated burglary at a Warragul house on Monday, November 25.
Police believe a man entered an attached garage in Crole Drv via an open door on two separate occasions between 1am and 1.45am whilst three people slept inside.
They said the man was captured on CCTV and appeared to be driving a white single cab utility.
Described as Caucasian, he was wearing a black Raiders hat, navy Adidas hoodie, black slides and grey tracksuit pants.
Police allege he entered the garage and stole tools including Ryobi batteries as well as a motorbike bag. He also entered a vehicle.
After leaving, the man appeared to return and take several other items.
A man, wearing similar clothing and matching the description, was captured on CCTV in the vicinity of a stolen vehicle in Drouin on Tuesday.
Police said the vehicle was reported stolen from Hallam that day and had registration plates "1SU 1DL" and "1WT 7KL". One of the plates is believed to have been stolen from a Pakenham address overnight on Friday, November 22.
Another two registration plates were located underneath both front and back plates, with a further set inside the vehicle.
Items including nail guns, concrete saw, grinder, hand drills, mobile phones, drink bottles and clothing also were found in the car.
