Showing off their competitiveness and sportsmanship, grade five and six students from smaller Baw Baw primary schools participated in the zone final of VicSpell at Ripplebrook Primary School earlier this month.
Bayles Regional Primary School took out both categories for the day, with Eden Taylor for grade five and Mikaela Pascoe for grade six.
Other finalists in the grade five category were Walter Cogo from Jindivick Primary School in second, Lily Biscoe from Ripplebrook Primary School in third and Matilda Barnard-Green from Ripplebrook Primary School, Oliver de Kock from Jindivick Primary School, and Ben Reville from Bayles Regional Primary School, all in equal fourth position.
The other grade six finalists were Charlotte McMillan from Bayles Regional Primary School in second, Mitchell Stewart from Jindivick Primary School in third and in equal fourth, Serenity Carrol-Cook and Lola Cheesman both from Ripplebrook Primary School.
Winners of the day Eden and Mikaela will now advance to the state final which will be held in Traralgon on Friday September 12.
