Latrobe Valley Model Railway Association is bringing its annual Model Railway Exhibition to Warragul.
Previously the exhibition has been held in the Latrobe Valley, but this year Baw Baw Shire locals will have the opportunity to get up close to a variety of intricate model railway layouts and even display some of their own as the usual venue - Kernot Hall - is being renovated.
Each year LVMRA volunteers spend hundreds of hours preparing the exhibition, setting up displays and organising stalls.
This year, visitors will be able to see the Warragul Railway Station in miniature form, a tiny V/Line Warragul Station sign and all.
Children's layouts are always a highlight of the event, and those visiting can have a turn driving the miniature locomotives.
Michael Leaney and his partner Russell Wright are two locals who will be exhibiting their layouts for the first time.
Their model railways "Little Woody Bay Railway" and "Rhydyronen Quarry" are based on locations in the UK they have visited.
The pair own four tracks in total and have been building model railways on a regular since the pandemic.
Mr Leaney said model railways became more popular hobbies for people during the pandemic they're projects that can be completed inside and pieces can be shipped directly to your door.
"It gives me an opportunity to be creative," he explained.
"You need to think outside the box sometimes."
The exhibition will run from Saturday, May 20 to Sunday, May 21.
Tickets are $20 for a family, $10 for an adult and $5 for children.
