Country music festival

The Gippsland Country Music Festival will kick off this Saturday, April 22 at Lardner Park.
The single-day event is set to feature a variety of well-known country music acts and up-and-coming musicians.


There will also be a variety of entertainment for people of all ages including a woodchopping competition, a freestyle motocross showcase, food trucks, lawn games, cowboy karaoke and carnival rides.
Included in the festival lineup is Australian country music identity Lee Kernaghan, accomplished musician Troy Cassar-Daley, Adam Brand and Beccy Cole.
The woodchopping will be hosted by the South and Central Gippsland Axemen's Association and will see Victoria's toughest axemen and women compete.
The freestyle motocross showcase will be presented by All 4 FMX, brothers Mitch and Harry Van Vliet, who impressed audiences with amazing skills and tricks.
Local artists have been given the chance to perform on the festival's big stage with the "Gippsland Country Music Showcase", which will kick off at 12pm.
Gates open at 10am and final act Lee Kernaghan will take to the stage at 8.25pm.
