Warragul & Drouin Gazette, October 6, 2015

Students of Yarragon Primary School recently performed in their school production, “Strictly Panto.

” The play was based on Cinderella meets reality television; where the Prince holds auditions for tickets to the Royal Ball.

It was a full house with nearly 500 people in attendance.

This production is different to most other productions in that it was run by the students of the school.

Grade 5/6 students were responsible for the design and making of props, costumes, creating the choreography, organising publicity to go into newsletters, posters and in the designing of the performance program.

In addition to this, the 5/6’s were busy rehearsing lines as the main cast for the production.

Directors of the show Mrs Davey and Mrs Morgan were impressed with the calibre of the acting and singing this year.

“The collaboration shown by the students when they were working in groups to make the night happen was a highlight of the term,” Mrs Morgan said.

“They have exceeded the expectations of staff and impressed the school community with their efforts.

” Cast member Madlyn Borsato immensly enjoyed performing in front of a large crowd.

“I felt nervous but proud of myself,” she said.

“I was really happy with how I performed on the night.

” Reflecting on the night, Harri Parkinson said with all the stress and tears before the performance, everything worked out how students envisaged on the night.

Working behind the scenes as a stage hand, Fearghus Browne said he enjoyed the performance and loved getting the audience involved through clapping and cheering.

Each class in the school, from foundation through to grade four, were responsible for learning and performing a song and dance as part of the chorus.

All students put in the effort to learn the choreography and the lyrics to take part in the show.

Overall the production, “Strictly Panto,” was a huge success.  All the students joined in and had an incredible time.
