With passports and boarding passes in hand, Yarragon Primary School students were set for a two day Indonesian adventure last week.
The students, who learn Indonesian, were able to expand on their understanding and knowledge of the Indonesian language and culture when the school hosted a two day Indonesian festival.
All students participated in the activities, pretending they were taking a two day holiday to Indonesia.
Eight different workshops were held for students over the two days including cooking, dancing, Indonesian orchestra, shadow puppets, an Indonesian game and playing a bamboo instrument Angklung.
They also had the opportunity to dress in tra- ditional Indonesian costumes and were taken for rides on an Indonesian transport bicycle called a Becak.
Their lunch was nasi goreng.
The festival, which was the second held by the school, culminated in a closing ceremony where the students performed traditional music and dance items and dressed in Indonesian
