Tea cosies on display at Abbey Gardens

A display of handcrafted tea cosies was pride of place at at Abbey Gardens Aged Care recently.

The display at Abbey Gardens featured 62 tea cosies created by residents and their families and members of the Warragul Chat and Craft Group.
Abbey Gardens lifestyle and volunteer coordinator Kim Allison said the event was inspired by the Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival.
"One of our lovely volunteers Carol is in the Warragul Chat and Craft group and they entered the Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival," Ms Allison said.
"She thought, if Fish Creek can do it, Abbey Gardens might be able to do it!"
Celebrating their tea cosy event, the residents at Abbey Gardens had the opportunity to vote on their favourite cosy and enjoyed a special afternoon tea with scones and fine china, as well as a tea quiz and a visit from the Mad Hatter.
Ms Allison said the residents at Abbey Gardens enjoyed the chance to reminisce and chat.
"The residents love seeing anything different (around Abbey Gardens) and being able to talk about it," Ms Allison said. "A number of them are reminiscing about having a tea pot and a tea cosy or ones that their grandmothers had."
