Weather cruels Goannas

The Gippsland Goannas over 60 cricketers made the trek to Overport Park in Frankston South for their round 10 match against the Mornington Peninsula veterans on Sunday.
Batting first, with dark clouds looming, Ray Smith and Chris DeVent opened the innings for the Goannas at this beautiful ground.
The Mornington bowlers were bowling tight and DeVent was caught for three in the fifth over when the score was 11. Col Carmody joined Smith.
Smith retired for a well made 20 after facing 30 balls and Rob Taylor was the next to the wicket.
He was bowled for 11 in the 14th over and Carmody retired soon after for 15.
Murray Moore (2) and Mark Brown (1) were at the wicket when drinks were taken, and the rain had started. The Goannas score was 2/53 after 18 overs.
There was plenty of lightning in the distance and eventually lunch was taken early, but the weather did not allow the players to return to the park, so the match was abandoned.
The Goannas over 60s play again on Sunday with an away game against the Ringwood over 60 team, while the over 50s will travel to Geelong for their next game.
The over 70s team will play at Glen Waverley on Tuesday 21 January.
