Strong wins for Warragul

It was a good day for Warragul bowlers on Saturday, with two divisions having convincing wins.
Division one: Warragul lost to Trafalgar 80/85
Brian Kennedy, Tony Wynd, Gary Ingley and David Smith (skip) lost 18/21. John Vickerman, Terry Sullivan, Marg Ratcliffe and Rob Renn (skip) lost 22/29. Lynne Thomas, Gaye Renn, Peter Gallasch and Graeme Davis (skip) won 22/13. Bruce Thompson, Russell Carrick, Pat Hammond and Bill Clappers (skip) lost 18/22.
Warragul is currently sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard.
The next round will be a tough game for Warragul as they face top of the ladder Traralgon.
Division four: Warragul (2) defeated Churchill (1) 92/50
It was a great day for the team, with a convincing win over Churchill.
Matt Draisma, Bernie McIntosh, Linda McCoy and David Gatewood (skip) won 25/10.
David's team had a strong win, with Churchill only scoring on seven ends.
Ken Landman, George Mol, Lyn Morrison and David Ferguson (skip) won 22/13.
David's team gave Churchill a run for their money. On end eight, the scores were level. After being fairly even until end 21, Warragul scored a six to secure the win.
Ian Belling, Ken Scammell, Peter Ellis and Jim Moyle (skip) lost 12/19.
Belinda "Binny" Slate, Heather Baker, Des Stephens and Brent Grigg (skip) won 33/8.
Brent's team dominated in this match, with Churchill only scoring on five ends.
Warragul has retained second place on the ladder.
Division five: Warragul (3) defeated Drouin (3) 68/47
It was a great day out on the green for this division, winning all three rinks.
Jock Morrison, Bob Harris, Gabrielle Draisma and Henny Schreyer (skip) won 24/11.
Henny's team led all the way, with Drouin only scoring on one of the first 12 ends.
Rob Park, Lester Mason, Lyn Lowe and Roy Hammond (skip) won 22/19.
On the ninth end, the score was 2/14 in Drouin's favour. Roy's team then started a comeback by scoring on nine of the final 13 ends. This included a five on the 18th to snatch victory.
John Bell, David Piggin, Sharon Bull and Bill Clarke (skip) won 22/17.
Again, the score was 2/14 in Drouin's favour on the ninth end. Bill's team then came back strongly, with multiples on some of the remaining ends, including a four and a five.
Warragul is currently in fourth place on the ladder.
Division six: Warragul (3) lost to Churchill (2) 32/42
Rod Smith, Wes Newton, Bob Harris and Glad Atkinson (skip) lost 16/20.
Gary Allen, Marg Keeffe, Pam Vickerman and Gabrielle Draisma (skip) lost 16/22.
Warragul is in fifth place on the ladder.
Midweek
It was a better day for Warragul on Tuesday, with two teams winning.
Even better, division one had their first win for the season. This takes them off the bottom of the ladder.
Division one: Warragul defeated Traralgon RSL 61/55
Matt Draisma, Gaye Renn, Graeme Davis and Peter Gallasch (skip) lost 15/23.
John Vickerman, Lynne Thomas, David Smith and Rob Renn (skip) won 17/15.
Russell Carrick, Bill Clappers, Pat Hammond and Marg Ratcliffe (skip) won 29/17.
Marg's team started the day with scoring on each of the first seven ends. Traralgon RSL scored on the next six ends. On the 16th, 17th and 18th ends, Warragul scored a total of 10 points which sealed the win.
Warragul is currently in seventh place on the ladder.
Division four: Warragul (2) defeated Moe (2) 67/43
Heather Baker, Bernie McIntosh, Glynis Mitchell and Greg Mitchell (skip) won 25/10.
Greg's team dominated from the start and had a strong win.
Ian Belling, Lyn Morrison, David Ferguson and Jim Moyle (skip) won 29/14.
Jim's team had quite a close game up to the 10th end. However, after the 10th end, they scored a few multiples - including a five and a six.
Lyn Lowe, Dennis Rankin, Gary Ingley and David Gatewood (skip) lost 13/19.
This proved a tough game.
Warragul is in second place on the ladder.
