The finals of the Warragul Bowling Club B grade singles were played on Sunday in great weather conditions and with a large crowd of spectators present.
The men's final saw Russ Carrick against Greg Mitchell and the women's final was Lyn Morrison against Bianca Browne.
Bianca got off to a great start to lead 5/0 after three ends, only to see Lyn get the next three to level the scores at five-all.
Bianca won six of the next eight ends (including three threes) to take a commanding 17/7 lead. Then, against the run of play, Lyn won the next six ends (including two threes) to hit the lead, 19/17.
Bianca then staged a fightback of her own with next three ends and regaining the lead 21/19. Lyn then got two and one to lead 22/21, before Bianca got two to lead 23/22.
Lyn then closed the match out with three singles to win 25/23. This was a great game of bowls with some brilliant conversions and dead draw bowls. A great effort by both players.
In the men's event the players traded blows over the first five ends with Greg leading 6/4. Russ then got one, two, one to lead 8/6 before Greg got the maximum four to regain the lead 10/8.
Russ didn't let the last end get to him, and instead won the next five to establish a 17/10 lead, before Greg won three in a row to trail 15/17.
Russ got a maximum four on the 18th end then Greg got two to trail 17/21. Russ completed the match with three and then one to win the game 25/17.
This too was a great game for the spectators and both players are to be commended on their efforts.
The next championship finals will be the men's and ladies pairs finals on Sunday January 28 commencing at 10am.
