Warragul golfer achieves hole in one

Warragul
Field sizes were back to normal this week with the return of sunny weather.
A total of 140 players competed in a stableford round on Saturday, most finishing early to catch the AFL grand final on the big screen.
The highlight of the week was a hole in one from Paul Graham on the 15th on Tuesday.

Drouin
Wednesday:
The weather impacted last week's stableford competition.
However, the conditions were no bother to Fred Roknic who won the competition by two shots with a score of 39 points.
Jimmy Morrison won the super six with 15 points and down the line balls went to Tim Lawrence for 37 points, Callum Stewart with 35 points and Simon Appleby with 35 points.
NTP's were Matthew Roberts (5th and 10th), Ron Tomasetti (8th) and 4th Ryan Harrison (14th).
Friday:
A medley stableford competition was held on the Grand Final Eve public holiday.
Nick Pellatt won the day with 42 points, while Nathan Mhizha (39), Taurai Muzorori (38), Paul Barratt (37), Mark Klaver (36) and Trevor McPhail (36) all won a ball down the line.
Saturday:
The day saw 30 teams of four players contest a four-person Ambrose event.
The team of Ciara Davies, Ricky Davis, Glenn Rees and Grant Wilson won the day on a countback with a score of nett 57.
Runners-up were the team of Peter Britchford, Eddy Van Der Plight, Graeme Steel and Jock Granger who also had nett 57.
The third place team consisted of Phil Thomson, Corey Thomson, Joel Thomson and Zach Bambridge who had nett 57 3/8.
DTL's went to Jay Hanks, Richard Wans, Bob Simpson and Jake Simpson (58 3/8); Brett Peters, Pete Morris, Ray Smith and Glen Ward (58 7/8); Jeremy Hills, Matthew Priestly, Jarren Bennetts and Richard Hayes-Rosario (59); and Nicholas McDonald, Ben Logonder, Dave Axford and Brayden Hunter (59 1/8).

Sunday
Bailey Osseweyer was the winner of Sunday's medley stableford with 36 points.
Jack McConville won a ball down the line with 35 points.
Upcoming competitions are stableford tomorrow and Sunday, with stroke for Saturday's competition.

Drouin women
Drouin women played an individual stableford event in glorious conditions last Tuesday.
Division one winner: Marg Purcell (18) with 36 points.
Division one runner-up: Shirley Roberts (13) with 34 points.
Division two winner: Judy Bibby (31) with 38 points.
Division two runner-up: Sue Hatfield (32) with 37 points.
Down the line balls went to: Ange Greenall 35 points, Jess Ploeger 33 points, and Vanessa Campbell 32 points on a countback.

A four-person mixed Ambrose was played on Saturday.
It was a great day for all women involved on AFL grand final day.
Young Ciara Davies was a member of the winning team, with a great net score of 57.
Today is the October Monthly Medal with a stroke event.
Individual stableford events will follow on Tuesday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 15, with the club's annual 4BBB Gymkhana Day on Tuesday, October 22. Entry forms are now available at the club, with guests welcome.
The club wish Country Teams representatives Leanne Pollard and Shirley Roberts well. The duo are currently competing in the Geelong/Bellarine area.

Garfield
John Coutts has won the midweek championships at Garfield.
The final round of the 54-hole event was played on Thursday, with Coutts holding a narrow lead.
After a very shaky front nine of 14 points, Coutts fought back with a great back nine of 20 points to give him the title by two points over Cody Fry.
Storming into third position with a great final round of 39 points was David Werner, some two shots away in third. Peter Medwin, producing his best round in recent time, finished fourth with a final round of 37 points.
Curtis Duffy had the best A grade result on Thursday, with a winning score of 40 points. Werner won B grade and veteran Terry Bull won the C grade event with a handicap round of 36 points.
Chris Thorn had a very nice round of 37 points, playing off his mark of minus four. This included a pair of eagles on the 1st and 10th holes.
A field of 99 punters turned out on Thursday. Daniel Blake had the day's best equal round, getting the C grade win with a total of 41 points.
Matt Van Der Horst, returning to form, matched Blake's round to win the A grade event. Charlie Vega won the B grade event with 40 points.
On the Friday public holiday, a field of 83 turned out for a game. Leigh Noonan, a visitor from Beaconhills, enjoyed the great conditions and won the A grade event with a score of 38 points.
Tim Jeffrey won the B grade event on a count back from David Zaffarese, with 37 points. Harry Matthews scored 74 off the stick to finish with 36 points.
The next vets event will be at Garfield on Monday, October 14. It will be a 8.30am shot gun start.
A West Gippy verses South Gippy event will be played at Drouin on Monday, October 28. Names to John by Thursday, October 24. This event is a 9am shot gun start.
Saturday is a single par event, with the course to be closed from Monday to Wednesday for routine green coring.
