Vickerman wins Warragul title

The finals of two championship events were contested at Warragul Bowling Club on Sunday.
The men's 100 up final saw John Vickerman up against David Ferguson, while in the mixed pairs it was George Mol and Lynne Thomas against Gaye and Rob Renn.
David got off to a great start in his final, winning six of the first seven ends to lead 28/4. The next end was five all.
John soon got control of the jack and started playing shorter ends. He got eight, nine, nine and seven over the next four ends to take a two-shot lead.
Four of the next six ends had a five all scoreline and, after 18 ends, David led 73/69.
John went into machine mode at this point, scoring 33 to 17 over the next five ends to win the final 102/90.
The mixed pairs final saw George and Lynne win the first four ends to lead 7/0. Gaye and Rob got on the card with one on the next end.
George and Lynne played a great sixth end to pick up five and, when they got one on the next end, the score was 13/1.
Against the run of play, the Renns won the next four ends with three twos and a one to bridge the gap to 8/13 and put themselves into the game.
But, not to be denied, George and Lynne got four and one on the next two ends to take a big 10-shot lead with two ends to play.
George and Lynne were holding shot on the 14th end until Gaye took the shot out to make four. George didn't alter the situation with his last bowl.
Gaye tried a conversion shot to make more numbers but it didn't work. When the jack went back, they only had one shot.
This meant the last end wasn't required, with George and Lynne winning 18/9.
