Terrific tie in junior classic

The WDCA under 13s had a final round to remember as top teams Drouin and Ellinbank played out a rare tie in their T20 battle on Wedneday evening.
In a match that has just about everything there were strong batting performances, tight bowling, clutch catches and even a few direct hit run outs.
In the end both teams finished their innings on 110, Drouin for the loss of three wickets and Ellinbank for eight.
Drouin batted first and after a shaky start had them 3/19, some level heads got together and moved the scoreboard along throughout the middle and late overs.
Ellinbank's fielding was amazing and regularly cut the ball off from going to the rope for boundaries.
Soon it was the Eagles' turn to bat and after losing their first wicket with the first ball of their innings, they got to chasing down the total.
Looking in complete control at the halfway mark of their innings someone had to step up to give the Drouin team sniff at a win. And they did, a direct hit run out from the boundary sparking the Hawks.
From then on the match see-sawed and the game seemed to get ever so close with a wicket here and a boundary there keeping the families and spectators on the edge of their seats.
With the loss of the last wicket and scores all level, the kids couldn't believe it and hardly knew how to feel.
Both teams coach's congratulated each other's teams and wished them well for their respective semi finals.
The tie meant Drouin maintained top spot on the ladder and finished the season as minor premiers.
Drouin will face Western Park White at Bellbird Park 2 in their semi while Ellinbank take on Garfield-Tynong at the Ellinbank Recreation Reserve. Both matches begin at 5pm on Wednesday.
