Strikers take the win

With four players unavailable including their goalkeeper the under 16s faced a tough battle at the State Hockey Centre against Footscray last weekend. To make up the 11 Katie Knoor was recruited at the last minute to play on the wing.
The Strikers exploded out of the gate and had two goals on the board within the first 10 minutes. Chloe Johnstone, filling in as goal keeper for the first time ever put in a blinder including saving a penalty stroke.
It was a real team effort with everyone contributing across the field. With no subs, the players were dead on their legs by the end but their smiles said it all and the team song was sung with Gusto. The final score was 4-1. Goal scorers were Leandra McLauchlan with two, Charlotte Smith and Regi Brown with 1 each.
The under 18 Gippsland Strikers had one of their best games this season beating Knox 4-0 at home. From the blow of the whistle for the start of the game, the Strikers began the game with spectacular teamwork and vision. Their passes were on target and their tackles were strong. Goal scorers were Elliot Stephens, Thea Pozzebon, Harry Coster and Eli Gubbels.
