A new-look Garfield put up a more than admirable fight against Phillip Island at home on Saturday before ultimately being outclassed.
With not many punters giving the depleted Stars a chance of challenging the all-conquering Bulldogs the 4.6 (30) to 12.11 (83) result was full of heart and fight, especially in a first half that saw Garfield seriously challenge another side in contention for the flag.

Joshua Evans was best on ground for the Stars, combining well with co-
