In the only other game from the weekend a late flurry from Kilcunda Bass handed them a statement win away from home against Inverloch-Kongwak.
Seven goals to two in the final quarter turned an arm wrestle of a match into a forgone conclusion, the Panthers blowing out a three-point lead at the final change into a 32-point victory 15.8 (98) to 10.6 (66).
Up until the last it was tough to tell who was going to walk away happy from the Easter Saturday battle as the two 2024 finalists went toe to toe.
The Panthers ultimately benefitted from their powerful fourth quarter display as well as a rush of goals in the second. They kicked just two majors outside of those two terms for the day.
It was the usual suspects getting the job done for the visitors with star players Travis Tuck, Dale Gawley and Nathan Foote leading the charge to help the Panters bounce back from last week's defeat to Warragul Industrials.
The Scotts – Steven and Lochlan – were also effective along with Bradley Aldwell. Brody Connelly (three goals) again topped their scoring in the absence of the injured Anthony Daraio.
Inverloch-Kongwak were punished for leaving too little to too few, their best being Joseph Notwell, Dylan Clark, Oscar Toussaint, Lewis Rankin, William Turner and Nicholas Baltas (four goals).
Now one and one for the season, early indications are that the Sea Eagles may be a touch off their usual form. The loss here combined with their less than enthusiastic win over Korumburra Bena means there's tinkering to be done before a mightily important battle with Cora Lynn this weekend.
