Two familiar combatants lined up for the final of the Garfield Bowling Club’s men’s singles championship with Nick Henwood emerging victorious.

Nick Henwood and Stephen Whyte have now battled for this championship three times in the last four seasons, the previous two contests both going Nick’s way.

A warm sunny day at Garfield set the stage for round three.

Nick bolted out the blocks and had a handy early lead before Steve got into his stride.

Steve attempted to reel his opponent in, but could only manage to maintain the gap.  He had many close shaves, where one shot down could have been three up if the luck, and the bowl, had gone his way.

However, despite the play being so close that no winner could be found for one end, Nick steadily ploughed on, finally winning the match 25/15.

Congratulations to Nick, once more the club champion, and better luck next time, Steve.
