McGillivray leads from the front in div two

Warragul (7/272) vs Neerim District

Having gone perilously close last weekend, Eddie McGillivray notched his maiden century to lead Warragul to a superb first innings total against Neerim District, with the Gulls firmly in control at the end of the first day's play.
Having bundled Jindivick out for just 29 last weekend, the Stags attack would no doubt have begun the day full of confidence in their ability once again blast through a batting line-up.
However, after Aaron Fawcett and Matthew Kelliher claimed the early scalps of Patrick Mulqueen and David Wheeler, moments of joy were then few and far between.
Greg Interlandi (a boundary-laden 40) attempted to throw the Neerim attack off their line and length and was mostly successful, with bowlers attempting every trick in their arsenal to induce a false stroke.
There were none to be found from the blade of McGillivray however, with the talented Warragul coach blasting boundary after boundary.
In all 16 fours and four sides flew from his blade as he posted 104 – reaching three figures with a glide through the slips cordon to cue raucous celebrations from his teammates.
Dane Fawcett (4/46) was able to claim late wickets amidst the flow of runs, but the Gulls nonetheless finished the better of the two teams – reaching 8/272 at the close of play.
Buln Buln (253) vs Garfield-Tynong
Corey and Lachlan Jagoe helped Buln to a position of strength at stumps in their encounter with Garfield-Tynong, with the Lyrebirds yet another side who made their opponents sweat and bake for prolonged periods.
Both Jagoes made 71, although the manner in which they made their runs were starkly different, yet equally effective.
Corey launched a staggering assault on the opening bowlers – belting 10 fours and three sixes in a vintage display of hitting – whilst Lachlan was more watchful, patiently seeing off anything pitched on the stumps and biding his time until a loose delivery came his way.
Grant Pearson (3/60), Brayden Ridler (2/40), and Glen Johnston (2/19) fought back valiantly after the 97-run opening stand, but the promising start meant the middle order had the freedom to attack and further propel the innings.
Krishan Rangajith was subjected to a rare wicketless outing – a testament to the Lyrebirds' determined batting – and Brayden Fowler (32 off 31) and Neil Clark (30 from 37) notched handy cameos to back up the Jagoe's efforts as Buln reached 253 before being dismissed in the 69th over.
Jindivick (261) vs Yarragon
Brayden Chandler has provided glimpses of his talent so far this summer, but Saturday was the stage of his breakthrough knock for Jindivick, with his magnificent century helping the Jumping Jacks bust the ghosts of last week's shocking performance by posting 261 against Yarragon.
Harrison Moore (25), James Stevenage (26), and Jordan Smith (29) provided the ideal platform for Chandler to launch from, with the trio ensuring that Daniel Haddad and Jake Green were unable to make early inroads.
Chandler wasted precious little time in signalling his intentions, with a host of sterling cuts and drives racing to the fence, and once his eye was in there was no let up for the Panthers' attack.
Dominant against all comers, Chandler accelerated through the 80s and 90s – periods where some batters become bogged down – and eventually made his way to 112 before Jake Borsato was finally able to breach his defences.
Brock Glover (3/20) helped ensure the run rate dropped following Chandler's departure, and along with Addison Cumming (2/42) displayed pleasing control with ball in hand, but nonetheless Yarragon face an uphill slog next week in pursuit of Jindivick's total.
Western Park (8/162) vs Drouin (67)
An under-strength Drouin outfit were humbled by Western Park in their round seven clash, with the Warriors' bowlers delivering a series of stellar spells that were simply too hot for the Hawks outfit to handle.
Jack Walsh (3/17 from 7) showed why he has been a regular feature in Western Park's division one outfit this season with his pace and seam movement proving difficult to overcome for Drouin.
Meanwhile 'Jumbo' Allen's mystery spin was again on display, the ostentatious Englishman snaring 4/7 from 12 quality overs which left the Hawks flummoxed.
Al Gaudion (12), John Perry (13), and Upinder Taggar (16) all made starts but weren't able to capitalise, and after just 37 overs Drouin were dismissed for 67.
Ben Dixon provided early inspiration for the Hawks – with Jack Barnes leaving a delivery that honed in on off-stump from the moment it left the bowlers hand – but Kurtis Harper (28) and Walsh (a 46-ball 51) quickly claimed first innings points for Western Park.
Matt Jones (24 from 23) then put an exclamation mark on the day's play, as the Warriors made it to stumps at 8/162 – already 95 runs in front and no doubt looking to take home outright victory next weekend.
