Martel and Dare feast on Ships

by Samuel Laffy
Ellinbank (2/139) def. Trafalgar (9/133)
The confines of Lardner Recreation Reserve were no match for Archie Martel and Matt Dare, with the dynamic duo blasting rapid knocks to help Ellinbank claim an eight-wicket win over Trafalgar.

Having seen off the opening pair of Darren Brown (1/13 from 4) and Oliver White (0/6 off 3), Martel (who struck five fours and two sixes on his way to 49*) and Dare (who sent five sixes sailing over the boundary in a knock of 60) feasted on the Ships' change bowlers, taking just 18 overs to reach victory at 2/139.
Earlier in the day, Anthony Faltum (32) and Adam Carlson (19) were the best with the bat as Trafalgar made 9/133.
Catani (1/123) def. Yarragon (115)
Catani claimed a comfortable nine-wicket win over Yarragon in their round 12 clash, with a host of contributors ensuring a successful chase.
Facing a middling target of 115, Taj Goodrope (32) and Duane Peacock (21*) were in excellent form with the bat, and they took advantage of the lack of scoreboard pressure to build into their innings with the Cats reaching victory in the 24th over.
Earlier in the day, the Panthers total was made possible by a brilliant 61 to Kyle Bradshaw, with his half-century dominating the Yarragon innings.
Drouin (7/169) def. Garfield-Tynong (8/156)
Drouin claimed a 13-run win over Garfield-Tynong that helped them hold onto fourth spot on the division five table, after launching a rollicking run chase at Bellbird Park's second oval.
The Titans would have hoped that their total of 8/156 would be enough to help them overcome the Hawks, but Remo Graziotin (57*) delivered a typically rambunctious knock that propelled Drouin to a fast start.
Adin Short (17) and Jude Fernando (26) then chimed in with handy contributions that helped the Hawks over the line.
Neerim District def. Western Park
In a rare division five encounter played on turf, Neerim District emerged victorious in their clash with Western Park, with the loss leaving the Warriors' finals hopes hanging on by a thread.
Nick Baker was again in excellent form with the bat for Western Park – striking a superb 50* - and Jack Sim (17), John Laffy (14), and extras (45) helped boost the Warriors' total to 8/166 at the conclusion of their allotted overs.
John Fleming (3/19 from 8) and Francis Fleming (2/22) were best with the ball for the Stags.
No scores were available at the time of writing for Neerim's innings, but reports were they were able to successfully pass Westen Park's total late in the piece, winning by three wickets.
Longwarry (5/220) def. Warragul (218)
No scores available at time of writing.
