Poowong's A grade netballers may have the strongest nerves in Ellinbank and District netball, securing their second one-goal victory on Saturday.
Just seven days after defeating Yarragon by the smallest of margins, the Magpies repeated the feat against Catani in round two.
It was left to A grade debutant Madi Taylor to shoot the winning goal, securing the 31-30 win in the heat.
Yarragon was again within reach of victory on Saturday, but Lang Lang had other ideas. The Tigers, with a run of six goals in the final quarter, won 49-45 to celebrate Steph Geyer's 250th club game.
In a rematch of last year's preliminary final, Nilma Darnum bounced back with an 18-goal win over Trafalgar.
In the other games, Longwarry, Ellinbank and Neerim South all outplayed their opponents in Nyora, Bunyip and Buln Buln.
The young Magpies sit fourth on the ladder after Saturday's thrilling win.
However, it was Catani who had the better start and led 6-2. The Magpies hit back with six of the next seven goals to tie it up at quarter time.
The Magpies continued this run in the second, leading 16-9, before Catani settled. The Blues went on an 11 goal to five goal run either side of half time to trail by just one goal at the last change.
Catani had the lead with just five minutes left but Poowong shot four of the last six goals to win.
Yarragon gained an early break against Lang Lang but it was the Tigers who led by three goals at quarter time. However, scores were tied at half-time and the Panthers up by one at the last break.
Six consecutive goals to the Tigers set a five-goal margin with five minutes left. The Panthers couldn't claw it back.
There were breaks aplenty as Trafalgar hosted Nilma Darnum, with both teams enjoying runs of goals in the first half.
However, it was the Bombers who had more significant runs and edged ahead each quarter, leading by three and seven at the first two breaks. They pulled away in the second half for a comfortable win.
Next week: Buln Buln v Bunyip, Nilma Darnum v Ellinbank, Trafalgar v Neerim South, Poowong v Longwarry, Nyora v Lang Lang and Catani v Yarragon.
