Longwarry bowed out of division one finals in Saturday's preliminary final.
It was a great contest for the majority of the final, played between Longwarry and Newborough at Traralgon. However, the experienced Newborough team got the upper hand and went on to win three of the four rinks for an 18-shot overall win.
Division one: Longwarry lost to Newborough 67/85
Hayden McCarthy, Col Finger, Craig Cousin and Kenneth Towt (skip) lost to Scott Jones' team 14/18.
Grant Pask, Nat Cousin, Trevor Kitchen and Ian Peterson (skip) lost to Sheryl Atkinson's team 16/24.
Hank Metselaar, Chris Butler, Ken White and Glenn Pask (skip) defeated Nathan Lewis' team 27/15.
Peter Lieshout, Barry White, Russell White and Jason "Pommie" Lieshout (skip) lost to Kevin Lovett's team 10/25.
It has been a great year for the Longwarry team who won their way into division one by taking out last year's division two premiership.
The side will work to be back and stronger next year after experiencing division one finals. The players will now get behind the club's division four and midweek pennant teams as they chase this year's flags.
Midweek
Longwarry hosted Warragul at "The Dome" on Tuesday in the second semi-final.
However, they were well and truly bowled out by Warragul, with all three rinks going down in a 27-shot overall loss.
Division four: Longwarry lost to Warragul (2) 43/70
Hayden McCarthy, Pauline Dixon, Craig Cousin and Col Finger (skip) lost to David Gatewood's team 16/17.
Kevin Dixon, Carol Gibbon, Nat Cousin and Jason "Pommie" Lieshout (skip) lost to Jim Moyles' team 11/31.
Colleen Butterworth, Sharon Twite, Ken White and Trevor Kitchen (skip) lost to Greg Mitchell's team 16/22.
Longwarry will now take on Garfield today at Drouin for the chance at another crack at Warragul in next week's grand final. The team would appreciate the support of all of their fellow bowlers.
