Volunteering can sometimes be a thankless job. For Warragul Football Netball Club's Leigh Sheehan, it's anything but.
Leigh was recognised recently as one of the Gippsland League's volunteers of the year, largely thanks to his efforts in re-establishing and acting as president of the Gulls' junior club in the Warragul and District Junior Football League, which this year had all three of its teams competing in grand finals.
When three WDJFL clubs left the league to join the newly-formed West Gippsland league at the beginning of 2021, Leigh, along with the club's then-senior president Michael Ireland, saw an opportunity.
