Jumping Jacks blast Kangas in division four

by Samuel Laffy
Jindivick (3/150) def. Hallora (149)

The small confines of Athlone were no match for Jindivick's top order on the weekend, as the Jumping Jacks took home a seven-wicket win over Hallora to remain atop the division four table.
Chasing a middling target of 149, Tobias Hart signalled his side's intent to adopt an aggressive approach with a boundary-laden 32 opening up.
The likes of Matthew Cheshire (32), Rechana Bon (38* from 28) and Matt Ward (22* off 15) then continued the assault, with the Kangaroos bowlers unable to prevent the ball frequently going to and over the fence.
Just 23.3 overs were required for Jindivick to clinch victory, with only Daniel Waide (2/33 from 5) able to somewhat slow the flow of runs.
Earlier in the day, Hallora's total was made possible thanks to knocks of 30 from Jake Dean and a 23-ball blitzkrieg that returned 41 runs to Daniel Sell, however their total turned out to be well short of what was required for victory.
Iona (5/144) def. Western Park (143)
Some belligerent hitting from Wade Haysom helped Iona claim a five-wicket win over Western Park, with the Swamp Tigers' star thoroughly enjoying his time in the lower divisions of the WDCA.
Chasing the Warriors' total of 143, Haysom watched on as a host of his teammates came and went from the crease, with Dave Nobels (2/20) delivering a quality opening spell.
However, once Haysom settled he began to unfurl a host of powerful drives and hoicks through the leg-side, and his 93-ball 88 not out saw Iona reach victory in the 35th over.
Earlier in the day, Dion Pavlic (3/29) and Haysom (2/25) were crucial factors in the Swamp Tigers successfully restricting their opponents, triggering a middle order collapse that dashed any hopes Western Park had of posting a winning total.
Raman Gautam (34*) was easily the best with the bat, displaying impressive temperament in a superb lower order knock.
