Jindivick (8/336) vs Western Park
Many might have been surprised to see Rod Huma back in division four following his 41 in division two against Yarragon last weekend, but the dynamic opener shrugged off his demotion to notch a superb century against Western Park on Saturday.
Huma's 119 helped the Jumping Jacks post an imperious total on day one of their round 13 clash, leaving them in the box seat for day two.
Seeing off the likes of Noah McDonald (2/54 from 18) and Dave Nobels (who toiled manfully on his way to 3/88 off 19), Huma seized the opportunity to attack the change bowlers, never allowing them to settle and manipulating the field to perfection as he provided endless frustration for the Warriors.
Matt Cheshire (66) and Rechana Bon (68) provided more than able support, and Andrew Pyle (34* from just 27 balls) put the finishing touches on one of the more impressive days in recent times for Jindivick.
Garfield-Tynong (9/279) vs Hallora (0/21)
Two of the more contrasting approaches to batting you are ever likely to see marked Garfield-Tynong and Hallora's division four clash, leaving the Titans holding a commanding advantage at stumps on day one. A blitzkrieged century from Michael Modaffari set the tone early for Garfield-Tynong – dominating a 119-run opening stand with Jack Salan (who notched 34 from 57) – with the Halloran bowlers almost helpless to stop the onslaught. 15 fours and seven huge sixes flowed from Modaffari's bat, with the run-rate sitting over eight an over for the majority of the time he was at the crease. Michael Buzasi (6/90 from 20) played a lone hand with the ball in his first game of the summer and ensured the Garfield-Tynong innings didn't completely get out of hand, but nonetheless they posted 279 before being dismissed in the 48th over. Left with 19 overs to face out, many assumed Hallora might attempt to match the boundary-hitting exploits of their opponents, but instead Chris Youngman (8* from 66) and Dylan Pathak (8* from 48) barely attempted to score as they crawled to 0/21 at stumps.
