Catani (8/99) def. by Drouin (4/203)
Catani were no match for Drouin in their match on the weekend, with the Hawks taking out a whopping 104-run win.
The usual suspects at the top of the Drouin order did the bulk of the damage with the bat – with Clint Osseweyer (53*) and Remo Graziotin (56*) in unforgiving moods – whilst Duy Vo chimed in with a superb 53* as the Hawks romped to 4/203 from 35 overs.
In pursuit, the Cats were never in the hunt, as Samuel Graziotin (1/5 from 6) and Gavin Mills (1/10 off 7) proved impossible to get away from.
Hudson Shanks (27*) and Matt Coleman (21) did their best to accelerate scoring, but Catani could only post 8/99 in reply.
Ellinbank (9/226) def. Neerim District (7/222)
Lardner Recreation Reserve is conducive to high scoring, and Ellinbank and Neerim District used the small confines to their advantage in a thoroughly entertaining division five showdown.
The Stags compiled what in many circumstances would be a winning total – making 7/222 from their 40 overs – and were on top early in their defence, removing the dangerous duo of Brayden Rintoule and Matt Dare for just six apiece.
However, Logan Joyce (61), Ryan Bosch (40), and William Auldist (62*) proved up to the task, blasting a multitude of boundaries as they accelerated.
The aggressive intent wasn't without risk though, as wickets tumbled late. However, the Eagles weren't to be denied, eking out a one-wicket win in the 39th over.
Western Park (212) def. Jindivick (102)
Western Park's finals chance might be over but that didn't stop the Warriors from recording a 100-run win over Jindivick on Saturday, with a host of contributors sealing an all-round team effort.
The likes of Raman Gautam (a watchful 32), Daniel Rae (a cheerleader-inspired 28), James Campbell (29), and Vipin Vyas (a carefully diagnosed 39) all chimed with handy knocks that helped Western Park overcome some steady bowling from Russell Vincent (2/40) and Elijah de Groot (4/14 from 4.5) to post 212 before being dismissed in the 40th over.
In reply, Matthew McCormick (28) provided the Jumping Jacks with a strong start, but lacked sufficient support from many of his teammates.
Generating a significant 'pop' from the Western Park faithful in attendance, Charlie Tonkin (3/26) and Aden Gilbert (3/11) dropped the finishing moves on Jindivick late in the day with a host of wickets, helping bundle Jindivick out for 102 in the 25th over.
Longwarry (8/249) def. by Garfield-Tynong (3/258)
Longwarry Primary School has seen many a boundary-laden onslaught in its time as a WDCA venue, and Saturday proved no exception to this rule, with Garfield-Tynong taking home a seven-wicket win over the Crows on the back of a rollicking run chase.
Longwarry were in fine form with the bat having won the toss, and their total of 8/249 was – on paper at least – an intimidating target.
However, the Titans wasted little time in putting the bowlers on the backfoot, with Mark Bowman (50*) and Daniel Mitchell (50*, including four fours and four sixes) easily reaching the fence.
Jake Lambourne (54*) and Aaron Braaksma (38) continued the attack and ensured that the required run-rate was always within reach, Garfield-Tynong taking home victory in the 40th over.
Trafalgar (2/144) def. Warragul (141)
Dynamic knocks from Brenton Faltum and Williams Mills carried Trafalgar to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Warragul in their round 15 clash, with the Ships' successful run chase a largely untroubled affair.
Having restricted the Gulls to 141 – a total made possible thanks to a swashbuckling 45 from Tristan Fraser – Trafalgar saw off some tidy bowling from Gordon Winstone and Erin McFarlane, before Faltum (41*) and Mills (45*) cashed in on some loose offerings from the rest of the Warragul attack, taking their side to victory in the 27th over.
