It was double delight for Warragul at the AFL National Draft last week when locals Alix Tauru and Jasper Alger officially found their way onto AFL lists.
Tauru, a high flying defender who was predicted to be taken in the first round on Wednesday, lived up to expectations with St Kilda selecting him at pick 10, making him Warragul's first top 10 product since Caleb Serong at pick eight in 2019.
Alger had to bide his time a little longer for his chance, the dangerous small forward enduring a nervous wait until his name was called out by his beloved childhood club Richmond on Thursday at pick 58.
Other Gippslanders to find success included Leongatha's Xavier Lindsay (pick 11, Melbourne), Heyfield's Asher Eastham (pick 17 rookie, Gold Coast) and Morwell's Ricky Mentha Jr (category B rookie, Melbourne).
