Goannas dust off
1 min read

As the new cricket season approaches rapidly, players from the Gippsland Goannas Cricket Club are dusting off their equipment.
The club will again field three teams in the Veterans Cricket Victoria competitions, with a team in each of the over 50, over 60 and over 70 sections.
As a prelude the Goannas recently held their annual general meeting, with Neil Meredith again elected as president, Ray Floyd as vice president, Ian Gibson as secretary and Ray Smith as treasurer.
Peter Anton has been elected to the committee, with a representative from the over 50 team to also be appointed.
One of the first tasks of the new committee will be to appoint captains for each of these teams.
All players will have to re-register with PlayHQ before the season starts.
The first game for the season will be on Sunday October 6, with the over 70 team due to travel to Geelong.
The over 60 competition will start the following Sunday with an away game against the new Baw Baw team.
The over 50 draw has yet to be finalised, but the club hope to have some information to pass on soon for this team.
