On Friday September 13 the Mid Gippsland Junior Badminton Association played their grand finals at the Warragul Badminton Club and enjoyed a great turnout of supporters to watch the play.
The association welcomed life members Jean Nieslen, Bronwyn Throup and the Mid Gippsland Badminton Association President Scott Humphrey to watch the games.
Linda Bibby presented the Tom Bibby Memorial Trophy to the joint club winners this year Warragul and Labertouche.
This Trophy is awarded to the club that has the highest percentage of entries in the singles and doubles tournaments held throughout the season.
A big thanks to the Drouin and Labertouche players that came along on the night to umpire the games.
B grade:
This final was played between two Warragul teams, and some amazing rallies were held in all the games.
The one and two doubles was a hard fought game, with only three aces the difference with the winner Bailey Huntingford and Ashlyn Board for the Red team defeating Param Shah and Harley Board.
In the one and three doubles Param and Seth Huntingford for the Blue team defeated Bailey and Zoe Harrington 42 aces to 27 aces.
In the two and three doubles Harley and Seth for the Blue team defeated Paige Huntingford and Ashlyn 42 to 30 aces.
Some great play between brothers and sisters in each team.
Warragul Blue are the B grade champions, after defeating Warragul Red four games to two, with 225 to 176 aces.
C grade:
The play in the C grade final between two Ellinbank teams was just as interesting.
In the one and two doubles Tom and Lara Hansford for the Blue team defeated Taj Goodrope and Jim Thorne for the Gold team 42 to 25 aces.
In the one and three doubles Tom and Josh Pratt had a close game against Taj and Matilda Jefford in the Gold team with a close 49 to 45 aces result.
In the two and three doubles the Gold team's Nina Vanschyndel and Matilda with 42 aces defeated Lara and Josh 23 aces.
The end score between the two teams after all the singles was only 14 aces and Ellinbank Blue are the C grade champions, after defeating Ellinbank Gold four games to two, with 189 to 175 aces.
D grade:
The D grade final was also held between two Warragul teams Red and Blue.
In the one and two doubles the Blue team's Ariana Bruse and Aiden Ploeg with 30 aces defeated Red team's Lara and Shanae Board.
In the one and three doubles Ariana and Levi Durrant defeated Lara and Jack Ndjaka 30 to 24 aces.
In the two and three doubles Aiden and Malika Bruse defeated Shanae and Jack 30 to 22 aces.
In the singles both Lara and Shanae for the Red team won their singles against Ariana and Levi.
With only 10 aces between both teams in the end it shows how closely this match was contested.
Warragul Blue are the D grade champions, after defeating Warragul Red four games to two, with 163 to 153 aces.
