Last weekend the Victorian Hockey Junior Country Championships were held across three venues in Melbourne.
West Gippsland Hockey Association sent teams in the U15s boys and U15s girls. They also helped East Gippsland field teams in the u18s boys and girls and the U13 boys.
The under 18 girls all performed well and helped East Gippsland to 3 wins and 1 loss before losing both finals and finishing in overall 4th place.
The under 15 boys had an overall three win two loss record and finished in 5th place.
The success story of the tournament was the Under 15 girls. They won every game and finished with 26 goals for and only one against. The top two goal scorers for all the under 15 teams were both from West Gippsland with Bianca Zurrer scoring a total of 10 and Skye McDonald 9.
This is the 3rd time in a row that this core group of West Gippsland girls have combined to take home the gold.
