Drouin takes on Victoria

The Drouin Tennis Club is gearing up for its second season taking on the best Victoria has to offer in the Victorian Winter Pennant.

The Saturday afternoon competition, which has historically been geared towards solely metro-based clubs, last year widened its borders due to a request from Drouin, allowing the club to compete.
And it's helping to put the club on the map, with three teams set to feature in the upcoming season - two men's sides and one women's.
Drouin will be travelling every second week to play clubs based closer to the Melbourne central business district, mainly in and around the Box Hill and Ringwood areas against other sides in their grade, which is determined by players' UTR ratings.
Featuring teams of four to six players, competitors will get the chance to show their stuff in both singles and doubles, alternating between single-set eight game matches and full three-set battles, with a super tiebreak determining the third set.
Drouin Tennis Club's Rowan White said the competition was of a great standard and the club had already benefitted from competing in last year's edition.
"It really just provides those matches during the winter for people who want to play during the off-season," he said.
He added that while registrations for the season close this Friday, the club was still on the hunt for players should anyone still want to sign up.
