Tauru, a high flying utility, is expected to be taken in the first round with North Melbourne reportedly eyeing off a potential play for him at pick two.
He has become one of the bolters of his draft class, having gone from being under little to no consideration early in the year to a player just about every club is after.
Tauru's ability to read the play and his leap at the ball have been seen as major upsides to his game, where he has shown capabilities as both a defender and a forward.
Alger, meanwhile, plays a forward role and has been projected to be selected a little later in the order, with ESPN's power rankings having him at 41 and RookieMe placing him in the 30 to 50 range.
Alger is seen as a dangerous goalkicker, capable of contributing on the scoreboard while also being an aerial threat.
Having played out his Coates Talent League campaign with Oakleigh Chargers and featuring in the Vic Country team, he will look to be the Gulls' second draftee in as many years after ruck Lachlan Smith went to the Western Bulldogs last season.
