Demolition derby at Nyora

by Dean Thompson
This Saturday Nyora Raceway will roar once again with a huge night of entertainment for motorsport fans, with extra entertainment being provided by the Inspire Change Crew in the form of freestyle motocross and freestyle BMX performances, and a night ending $5000 to win Demolition Derby.

All the action begins at 4:30pm Saturday with entry gates open from 11:30am, you will want to be at the track reasonably early for the best seats in the house with so much entertainment to keep you on your backside trackside.
Racing during the evening will include a $5000 to win V8 dirt modified feature event that has attracted the current Victorian champion from Queensland in David Clark and the freshly confirmed Australian champion Kevin Britten on the back of his championship win last weekend at Warrnambool.
Brett Clake from Corinella, Matt and Marcus Reddecliffe, Zac McDonald, Mick Ardley, Brodie Ardley and Phil Roberts from Queensland and Andrew Pezzutti of New South Wales are other names on the entry list that are all part of the big race. Britten a multiple times national champion is the big ticket in this event, and worth coming to watch just on his name alone.
Also up for grabs will be the honour of winning the Robert Bickham Memorial in sports sedans.
Brothers Brendan and Damien Miller - born and raised in Pakenham - and Dave Donegan from Healesville are amongst the entrants, with the Miller boys having a firm grasp on winning in this event in honour of a man they respected for his encouragement of their racing as young men growing up.
Braidan Webster from Inverloch is strong at Nyora Raceway whilst club members Chris Aarts and Daniel Angus are keen to perform on this big stage in front of a huge crowd.
The freestyle motorbike and BMX entertainment will be thrilling and families will really enjoy the amazing skills from the Inspire Change Crew, who perform with social causes at the forefront of their minds such as homelessness.
They will have a message in their performance and it is inspiring to see young Australians entertain and educate.
Women's standard saloons will have a great entry list that already includes Vicky Price, Maddison Miles, Lea Judd, and Kath George representing the Nyora club, whilst junior standard saloons now have drivers on track after their recent Victorian title in Rosedale and Catani youngster Nathan Miles is up for their challenge.
Lightning sprints have just held their Australian title and Jason Alie from Koo wee rup will lead the class into battle at Nyora on Saturday night, whilst fans will be thrilled with the night ending demolition derby that includes competitors coming from New South Wales.
Kayn and Cody Shmal and Kaylah Johnson are three Victorians that travel around all season to compete in demolition derbies from Queensland and back through Victoria.
With $5000 to win, the drivers will be going all out to destroy each other's cars and be the last man or woman standing to claim the big cash prize.
