Trafalgar bowler David Cook has booked his place in the semi finals of the champion of champion singles event.

The Strzelecki North region event was played at Newborough across the weekend, attracting club champions from across the region. However, play had to be halted when the heat became too much.

As a result, David will play Boolarra's Steven Davey on either Wednesday or Thursday this week. An appointment with Traralgon's Matt Ferrari in the final awaits the winner.

David earlier defeated Warragul's Terry Sullivan 25-21 in Sunday's quarter final and Yinnar's Russell Peters 25-15 in Saturday's round two.

Thorpdale's Benjamin Powell also had a good run in the event, defeating Drouin's Wayne Walsh 26-11 in round two before falling to Churchill's Craig Flanigan 15-25.
