Iona (9d/183) def. by Catani (5/186)
Much like their division one counterparts, Iona and Catani were the only teams to take to the field in division one, but in this particular encounter it was the Cats who emerged victorious – and in the process almost guaranteeing that the top four is sealed heading into round 14.
Requiring another 173 runs at the start of play, Ross Douglas (a superb 49 from 92 balls opening) took the attack to the Swamp Tigers, having been far more watchful in the dying stages of the first day's play.
Striking a host of boundaries, his aggressive intent indicated that Catani were committed to the chase, and with the slippery ball causing headaches for bowlers the Ionan attack struggled to reel them in.
Andrew Hilder (3/47 from 19) and Will Selleck (1/36 off 19) were effective with ball in hand but struggled to find meaningful support.
Control was another issue, with 44 extras sent down for the day.
Bradley McDonald (23) and Jai Lewis (30*) then batted with tremendous intent and sealed the deal for the Cats in the 65th over, reaching victory at 5/186.
