Badminton grand finals

At the beginning of May, local badminton players began their preparations for home and away games and thrilling finals matches when the 2024 Mid Gippsland Badminton Association season began.
The season saw plenty of close games, including many three-setters during the nights.
After the 16 weeks of competition, the ladder at the end of the home and away season was as follows:
Section 1: Warragul Red were on top, with Warragul Blue in second by two points, demonstrating how close they were all year.
Section 2: Drouin Maroon and Drouin Gold sat near the top of the ladder, with only one ace difference in their position.
Section 3: Ellinbank MNT and Ellinbank Gold were both near the top of the ladder, and enjoyed the interclub battles each week.
Section 4: At the end of the home and away season, Ellinbank were sitting on top of the ladder with Warragul in fourth. However Warragul won two of the finals to end up playing in the Grand Final, a great effort considering they had some new players playing their first season this year.
Grand finals results:
Section 1: Warragul Red 4/321 defeated Warragul Blue 2/290
Section 2: Drouin Gold 4/298 defeated Drouin Maroon 2/294
Section 3: Ellinbank MNT 5/265 defeated Ellinbank Gold 1/213
Section 4: Ellinbank 4/276 defeated Warragul 2/234
Game of the week:
Section 1: Lachlan Davey and Andreas Stoffel defeated Athul Kakkadi and John Butterworth 18/21, 21/18, 27/25.
The Association thanked players for their contributions to the season and turning up to play each week. Club delegates were thanked for their work during the year.
Mid Gippsland Badminton Association players will gather together this Thursday, celebrating the 2024 season at presentation night.
