Ratepayers hold roundabout delay concerns
1 min read

Lengthy delays in building roundabouts accessing a number of new residential estates in Drouin and Warragul were a key concern raised at last week's meeting of the Baw Baw Ratepayers Association.
Heading the list was the Weebar Rd-Main South Rd intersection at Drouin that is also fed by traffic to and from Gould St and a service lane to residences on the southern side of Main South Rd.

The intersection is the principle access route to the developing Ferntree Ridge estate where some 300 homes have already been built over the past several years and is planned to have about 1600 houses.
A new Catholic primary school in the development also is set to be constructed and open to students in 2027.
Ratepayers association secretary Kerry Elliott said despite several arterial roundabouts in Warragul and Drouin being the developers' responsibilities there had been long delays with their delivery and the association was calling on Baw Baw Shire council to design and complete them as soon as possible.
In relation to the Weebar Rd roundabout council noted at its meeting earlier this month it was the responsibility of the developer.
However, it did approve seeking grant funding of up to $6 million to deliver the project in a more immediate timeframe.
Tenders would not be called until the funding was in place and if a grant was not received responsibility would remain with the developer.
The ratepayers meeting also decided that following election of a new council later in the year it would continue its so far unsuccessful advocacy for council to re-establish a Roads and Drainage Advisory Group to provide "invaluable local knowledge".
