Man airlifted after stolen car crash

A man was airlifted to Melbourne after a car reported stolen from Darnum crashed into a tree on Friday.
Police said a white 2020 Nissan Patrol wagon, valued at $70,000, was reported stolen from Little Moe River Rd at about 6.50am.
They said the victim had been nearby at the time and heard the car start before driving away.
The vehicle was linked to a fuel theft at Traralgon West at about 11.40am before police officers saw the vehicle in Morwell at 3.25pm.
Police arrested a 34-year-old Moe man in Commercial Rd who was allegedly a passenger. However, a second man drove away.
Several reports were made of a vehicle, matching the description, driving erratically on the Strzelecki Hwy.
The vehicle was located crashed into a tree on Old Thorpdale Rd at Mirboo North at 3.55pm.
A 33-year-old man from Wellington Shire, the only occupant, was extracted from the vehicle by emergency crews.
He was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital.
The 34-year-old Moe man was charged and bailed to appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court at a later date.
The 33-year-old man is yet to be interviewed by police and investigations are ongoing.
